ABOUT THE BAND

About

Formed in 2006, The Woovs, renowned for their eclectic sound, blending rock, pop and soul elements, are a staple of the local music scene in Northeast Ohio. Newly formed as a six-piece in 2021, they have expanded their sound, adding brass, reworking their old catolog, and writing new music. Their songs resonate with infectious energy and authentic storytelling, solidifying their place as one of the regions most promising musical talents. They were recently crowned winner of the Akron Beacon Journals 2023 Official Community Choice Awards for best live performance/band/artist. The band is looking to widen their audience in 2024, with quality gigs, stretching deeper into parts of Ohio and it’s neighboring states.

Barberton's The Woovs, always popular in their own circles, have gained some serious attention recently in the NE Ohio regional scene, and rightfully so. The band's soul-tinged, blues, and rock-based sounds coupled with deeply expressive vocals makes this band signature sound almost addictive. Recently making brass a part of their performance staple, the showmanship of this band is an experience to take in. - The Rialto Theatre

"When I think of the Woovs, it reminds me of everything that my soul so desperately misses about live music. That intangible feeling of experiencing music with all five senses. The beautiful power and emotion that only comes from being in the room and feeling the musicians pour their souls into the music. The connection between the band, you, and the audience. There is something so organic about the Woovs’ sound that it is almost difficult at times to capture. Soul. Heartfelt lyrics, haunting at times, universal and thought provoking. Rugged and emotional, with catchy melodies and well constructed songs, they have a diverse song portfolio. Alternative, with a sound spanning rock, blues, folk, and even reggae; the Woovs transpire into a sound that is uniquely their own." - Alex Beck/Artist

"The best thing to come out of Barberton, since lard-fried chicken." - Bill Hall (Radio DJ/Personality)

"The Woovs bring it when it comes to soul-fused rock, blues… anything to take you away for a night where anything is possible. A dream within a dream." - Ellen Stair (Zeitgeist Lens)

“I hate to call them psychedelic. They’re moody, folky, smooth and tough to pigeonhole. They have a good strong following, a couple of records out, just very interesting music.” - Dan Monea (Hey Monea)

Current Members: Adam Lengyel, Kevin Hamric, Brant Novak, Daniel Kshywonis, Taylor McIntosh, BJ Bishop
